French Bulldog: The Joyful

The French Bulldog is a small breed that has large ears that stand upright. It has a prominent muzzle, and the head is flat and shaped like a square. The height of the French Bulldog is not emphasized as long as it is in proportion to the body. The overall frame of these dogs should be shaped like a pear.

They have coats that are short and shiny, and the acceptable coat colors are fawn, brindle, white, or a combination of these colors. The skin of this breed should be loose, and the circular eyes should have a dark color. The bite of the French Bulldog should be undershot. Despite the name, the French Bulldog was first bred in England. It is smaller than the English Bulldog.

Temperament

The French Bulldog is a joyful breed that makes great pets. They are loving and playful, and they like to take things easy. While they will get along with virtually everyone, they will become firmly attached to one individual. This breed needs to constantly receive the attention of their owners.

They can be stubborn, and owners will want to make sure their training methods are gentle and consistent. While these dogs can be active, they don’t bark consistently. Some of these dogs have been known to drool, and they will behave best with mature children.

Health Problems

One problem that can commonly be seen with French Bulldogs is eye disorders. In addition to this, they may suffer from respiratory issues as well. Owners will want to make sure they are not overfed, as they can have breathing problems if they gain too much weight. French Bulldogs are not swimmers, and should never be left unattended near bodies of water. French Bulldogs can be expensive to care for. They will have a maximum life expectancy of 12 years.

Exercise

The French Bulldog should not be given excessive amounts of exercise in warm weather. They enjoy running around and can play for a long period of time. These dogs are ideal for those that live in apartments. They cannot tolerate extreme weather conditions and can suffer a heat stroke in warm weather.

Special Grooming Needs

The French Bulldog does not require a great deal of grooming. Their coats should be brushed when it is needed, and they will shed standard amounts of fur.
